Take 1 Learning Centre is a small, purpose-built independent sixth-form entry (age 16+) operated by Take 1 Studios, a registered charity and community organization established in 1999. The school specializes in creative re-engagement of young people who have become disconnected from traditional education, embedding music, media, dance, and film production into the core curriculum. Located in inner-city Nottingham, it combines formal academic study (English, Maths, Science, ICT, Business) with practical creative skills, aiming to provide progression pathways into further study and employment for vulnerable and hard-to-reach learners.

  • Creative curriculum using music production, DJing, dance, and film as vehicles for learning core subjects
  • Small cohort (currently 16 pupils) enabling high staff-to-student ratios and personalized support
  • Explicit focus on young people who have struggled with mainstream school; non-judgmental environment
